Novelty, Creativity, Innovation, Invention

Another Thursday has ended. Second class of Creative Studies has ended too.

This week, Mr. Radzi talked about "Novelty, Creativity, Innovation and Invention" in class lesson. About "Novelty, Creativity, Innovation and Invention", doesn't it read like something same meaning as well?

No, they aren't! But in my opinion, they are like brother-sister, connected each other.

Why I say so? There must some reason that I said this in here! Let's Look at it.

Novelty
Novelty which is derived from Latin word novus for "new", is the quality of being new. Although it may be said to have an objective dimension such as abstract artit essentially exists in the subjective perceptions of individuals.

From my opinion, Novelty something new or something unusual. It create somethings weird but useful for everyone.

Just like this Gun, Is this a gun or???? This a Vintage Novelty Pistol Gun Hairdryer, I like this gun hairdryer, look funny! A working, fantastic condition, rare vintage novelty hair dryer, complete with white plastic holster. No electrocution worries, the silver gun material is plastic as well. How to function? Pull the hammer which placed on top is to the desired heat setting, squeeze the trigger and let'er rip.

Creativity
As same as last week posted about CREATIVITY:

Creativity is defined as the tendency to generate or recognize ideas, alternatives, or possibilities that may be useful. Same as new idea or concept is created, no matter by old concept or newly invented.

Reason for people are motivated to be creative:
-need for novel, varied, and complex stimulation
-need to communicate ideas and values
-need to solve problems

At first, Don’t try this at home!
Awesome Picture! Creativity cannot be defined, and this picture is a live example of what it stands for. Sometimes it’s not a bad idea to do the smart thing and heed the advice!

Innovation
Innovation is a complex process of re-invent product, idea and concept to the society for commercialize. The process that involve novelty, validity, increment and realization. The society will being benefit by innovation, not from the invention alone.

In my point of view, Innovation means changing the existing ideas or knowledge for the purpose of improvement. There are many conditions, knowledge and attitudes that have direct impact on building innovation competencies.

''The INNOVATION point is the pivotal moment when talented and motivated people seek the opportunity to act on their ideas and dreams.''
~ W. Arthur Porter

Invention
Lastly, about invention, I think most of us is more knowing about INVENTION!

An invention is a new composition, device, or process. An invention may be derived from a pre-existing model or idea, or it could be independently conceived in which case it may be a radical breakthrough.

An iPhone. I think it is a very Common for everyone in this world.

'Time' names iPhone 'invention of the year'
In all seriousness, the article accompanying the award lays out several reasons why the iPhone is indeed very important to the computer industry. The relentless buzz around the iPhone, as well as the sales figures, are signs that the general public is starting to really think about what they want in a mobile computer. The iPhone has made the wireless industry sit up and realize that the bar has been raised. And it's also setting the stage for a future in which your mobile computer gradually occupies a larger part of your world.

Bill Gates – Microsoft

William Henry “Bill” Gates III, is an American business magnate, philanthropist, the world’s third richest person (as of February 8, 2008), and chairman of Microsoft, the software company he founded with Paul Allen.

Bill Gates is one of the best-known entrepreneurs of the personal computer revolution. Gates also holds the record of being the Richest Person in the world for 15 consecutive years.

Larry Page and Sergey Brin – Google Inc.

Two PhDs from Stanford University started work in the garage of a friend’s. And they were defiantly not building steam engines!

They were, however, creating the internet’s most powerful search engine. Sergey Brin and Larry Page are arguably the world’s most successful Internet entrepreneurs and developers in history. This enabled them to earn billions, while assisting everyone from high school students to particle physicists have an easy time searching for information over the internet.

Google was first launched on Stanford’s website (google.stanford.edu) and then finally on Google.com in 1997. It is estimated that GOOGLE is worth about a staggering $25 billion dollars.
